UPLB BAO held its fourth installation of training workshops for IGPs last 26-27 July 2023 at the Bay Leaf, Cavite. Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. gave his warm welcome and inspirational message to all the participants live via zoom. He emphasized the importance of UPSKILL as an effort towards the commercialization of technologies and knowledge-products, as well as maximizing the resources of the University to become more self-sufficient.

AVC of Administration and BAO Director Jennifer Marie Amparo gave a background on the training workshop and introduced the hackathon design in developing a business plan, where the training participants were required to submit an output by the end of the session. She emphasized the importance of marketing UPLB IGPs properly and UPSKILLS’ role to support IGPs and EUPs and to ensure that expectations are met through capacity-building.

The training participants were representatives from IBS-Bee Program, BIOTECH, DTRI, FABLAB, IFST, IHNF and IPB. The event aims to equip them with the necessary skills in business planning.

Representatives from TTBDO held a discussion on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its importance, spin-off, and branding. The workshop was led by the Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship (DAME).

A Plenary Session was also held with Atty. Jorge Davide, Jr. of the Legal Office,The Finance Team－ Asst. to the Chancellor Ms. Eileen Lorena Mamino from BAC Office, Chief Accountant Ms. Marie Claire Raymundo, Mr. John Reymark Garcia (BMO), Ms. Antonette Sambrano (Cashier’s Office) and Ms. Shirley Del Rosario (ICO), and Mr. Jose Barrona from HRDO.

The event culminated with the IGPs presenting the business plan they prepared during the workshop. AVC Amparo then closed the program with a message that instills the importance of aligning business outputs with University mandates.
