The Office of the Director of Business Affairs and Auxiliary Services Division in UP College of Agriculture was created.

In 1972, the University of the Philippines Los Baños became the UP’s first unit to be granted autonomy by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 58. This development brought about the need to operationalize UPLB as an autonomous unit to enable it to perform its functions effectively. In the same year, the functions of the Business Affairs and Auxiliary Services Division were absorbed by the Office of the Business and Administrative Services.

The functions of Office of the Business and Administrative were transferred to various units of UPLB.

June 23, 1986

  • UPLB Chancellor Raul P. De Guzman issued a Memo for President Angara recreating the Business Affairs Office (BAO) that will in effect consolidate the management of all business enterprises of UPLB and will be responsible for resource generation. 

June 27, 1986

  • Chancellor De Guzman, issued OC Memo No. 23 stating the creation of the Office of the Business Affairs Services (BAS) under the Office of the Chancellor and its function effective June 1, 1986. BAS was headed by Dr. Severino B. Vergara as its Director.

March 23, 1987 

  • UP President Edgardo J. Angara issued Executive Order No. 04 implementing the reorganization of the University of the Philippines. Section 4 of this EO, retains all existing units in UPLB.

July 12, 1999 

  • President Emil Q. Javier issued Executive Order No. 99-2 implementing the reorganization of UPLB. Several units/colleges comprising the new organizational structure of UPLB were reorganized including the Business Affairs Office (BAO) which fell under the supervision of Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration (OVCA).

January 17, 2006

  • The BAO was transferred to the OVCA from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) by virtue of Administrative Order No. 017, series of 2006.  AO No. 017 was issued for UPLB’s better allocation and use of resources, improvement in basic services and integration of related services and functions.

November 21, 2011 

  • The Administrative Order No. 214 Series of 2011 issued by then Chancellor Rex Victor O. Cruz, the administrative supervision was transferred back to the OVCCA.

November 3, 2020

  • The administrative supervision of BAO was again transferred to the OVCA through AO No. 318 Series of 2020.
